I like Toro. I only have a ride on lawn tractormower but its a Toro and Im very happy with it. Best mower depends on your block. You say it is not flat which definitely will be a factor in deciding on the mower but how steep is the steepest part where you will be mowing Are there lots of obstacles you will need to manoeuvre around Are there any boggy spots A lot depends on what quality of cut youre after, and your expectations for longevity. The build quality is excellent they weigh 5. Kg respectively and theyre well engineered the newer one using a solid PTO shaft to drive the mower deck rather than the more common belts. That said, they both cost a fair bit the newer one was 9k or so. Below that, in the 4 5k range, they all start to look very similar. While they commonly have large engines, the build quality tends to be lighter in the chassis and have thinner axles, the engines are vertical with two belts off the bottom, one to the hydrostatic drive at the back, the second with an electric clutch to drive the deck. The differences become a bit more subtle for example, Husqvarna tout their fabricated deck as opposed to the more common pressed deck. Both will rust out in time, so Im not sure of the ultimate benefit. Theres also the Australian machines Cox I think that dont have the sophistication of multi spindle decks, rather going for one big round one, and while they can charge through long grass, the quality of cut is poor. The only real experience I can offer for these other machines is that my mate bought a 5k or so Husky about 6 months back and seems pleased with it. Greenfield. I have owned a John Deere hydrostatic drive ride on for many years ,I have replaced one belt, blades, battery in the time I have owned it and it mows a couple of acres regularly. I think the newer base model hydro starts at around 3. Parts are reasonably priced and easily obtained, unlike some I have owned. We are happy with our husky 1. Its done some hard work turning our yard from scrub to lawn. Easy to service and similar price to buy as a JD. Get swing away blades. Greenfield. This I have had them for years and my current is a sixteen horse with a Kawasaki motor the last one had a Honda engine in it and I sold it for just about what I paid for it and they are Australian. I have two JDs, both 1. The older does rough area and the newer with the two pannier catcher for placing mulch under fruit trees. Pleased with both. The new lower prices meant I bought the second last year with catcher for the price I bought the older one some years ago. Tosh. 55 writes. I was looking at the CRAFTSMAN YT 4. Anyone had dealings I have the Craftsman LT 1. My area is small, but what a way to cut grass I enjoy it now. It is 4. I feel, not as strong as a Cox. Definitely go for twin blades over single. My personal preference is NOT to have a Briggs and Stratton engine on any of my mowers, and I am happy to pay a bit extra for a better engine. My personal preference is NOT to have a Briggs and Stratton engine on any of my mowers, and I am happy to pay a bit extra for a better engine. I have had very good service from my Honda and Kawasaki engines. My Cox mower is powered by a B S 1. HP engine and I have had no problems so far after three years of use. None of my powered yard tools has given me any engine problems I do change the filters and oil very regularly. K1. 20. 0 Can you tell me where you get the swing away blades for the HuskyI also have a 1. XP Husky and it has been great. Its coming up to 6 years old. I regularly service it myself and it is very easy to look after. Mind you, if I was buying one now I would buy a zero turn, especially if you have a slope. Buku Perilaku Organisasi. If the grass is thick and you allowed it to get a bit too tall and you have a cheap low end ride on mower then what you can do is not cut the grass full width and run the mower in a lower gear. The problem you will have with the cheap ride on mowers is when the grass gets too tall it builds up under the deck slows down the cutting blades and causes the drive belt to start slipping and burn. Another trick is to remove the plastic chute from the deck this gives a larger opening for the cut grass to exit the deck. Mind you any stones picked up by the blades will now very easily exit the deck at high speed so be aware of this flying shrapnel. Cheap ride on mowers also have thinly built decks which means if the deck hits a protruding rock it will get dented easily. As has already been mentioned the Grillo ride on mowers use a PTO shaft to run the blades not a belt. They are more of a ride on slasher than lawn mower. Any ride on mower that uses a drive belt to run the blades will have that belt slipping if too much grass builds up under the deck, which is what happens when you try to cut tall thick grass. The Husqvarna was a bigger engine hence more expensive both it and the MTD use belt drive for the blades they will both have the same problem of slipping belt when too much grass under the deck. No the extra horsepower wont make any difference to this problem. Sir Hissssssssss writes. MTD 1. 4. 53. 8 and 2. Husqvarna LT1. 95. What the pro con for these mowers. Husky are good and very popular here, if you want anything specific on it whim me as I now have a mate whos a Husky dealer. MTD have 3 ranges of mowers might have changed in the last couple of years but doubt it. Red mowers are base models, yellowgreen are midrange and Cub MTD. Ive had a MTD 1. The mower shop guy said it was better as it was belt drive as opposed to hydrostatic.
